Antonio Silva Wants Title-Shot but Not Against Junior dos Santos

Antonio Silva vs Mike Kyle

There are plenty of fighters who have excelled in MMA yet never received a UFC title-shot based on timing, bad luck, injury, or a last-second stumble. Strapping on the organization?s gold is a lifelong goal for most in the sport and an opportunity as rare as it is coveted.

However, heavyweight Antonio Silva seems content to pass on the possibility of fighting for a championship if his friend Junior dos Santos remains the divisional king.

According to Silva, who fights Alistair Overeem in February and could establish himself as top contender with a victory, he would rather wait than compromise his bond with ?Cigano?.

?Every athlete dreams of having the UFC belt one day. I would take a shot at the title, but not against (Dos Santos),? said Silva in an interview with TATAME.

?There are so many people to fight,? he continued, alluding to the likes of Roy Nelson, Mark Hunt, Stefan Struve, or any other number of notable heavyweights on the UFC?s roster.

Silva is set to scrap with Overeem on February 2 at UFC 156. He is coming off a TKO win over previously unbeaten Travis Browne, adding to other impressive showings on his 17-4 record including a stoppage of Fedor Emelianenko.
