FL Auto Insurance? - The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum

Quote:

Currently we are paying $1800/yr ($900/6mo) for car insurance, for basic coverage on 98 Acura CL and 2000 F250 diesel supercab. Clean driving records, married, both of us in the 40s. Vehicles have alot of miles, and are not worth much in case of a loss/theft, are there any options to get cheaper car insurance? Maybe No-Fault is cheaper? I am looking to get into $1000/year range if at all possible, my current Progressive rate seems way too high

Help!

It's tough to get a decent rate down here in Florida. I'm in the business and I know it all too well. I'm mid twenties and had an Infiniti G35x paid $500 6/mth for it when I lived up North. Moved down here and it jumped to $1450/6mth Clean driving record, no tickets, ect. You get killed because everyone is injured and the tow company wants to charge us $900 to keep a car for a weekend and tow it 6 miles. I was part of a discussion last week where a lady submitted $17k worth of medical bills including a hernia operation due to an accident at a publix where both parties backed into each other at about 3MPH.

That being said it's going to be tough. Seek out some online quotes with Geico, Allstate, Nationwide, and 21st Century. You may have luck going through an agent that services multiple carriers. USAA is an excellent carrier but you or a parent would have to be active or retired armed forces.

Word of advice do not skimp on coverage to save your rate. Min property limits down here are $10k and you can do that in a fender bender with any high end car down here. Same thing with bodily injury...see above example.

If you have any questions give me a shout I'd be happy to point you in any direction or answer any question you might have.
